Virginia General Assembly Votes to End Suspension of Drivers Licenses for Unpaid Court Fine, Fees

The Virginia General Assembly voted to end the Commonwealth’s policy of suspending drivers’ licenses for unpaid court fines and fees. This new policy has been in effect since July 1st, 2019, and is retroactive for approximately 627,000 Virginians. We see suspended licenses due to unpaid court fines and fees very regularly, so this policy will have a big impact on our current and future clients.
