Mark Leffler discusses financial impact of COVID-19

Mark Leffler

Boleman Law attorney, Mark Leffler appeared on Coast Live to educate people about the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mark Leffler highlighted several federal and state laws in effect to protect the consumer during these challenging times:

  • CARES Act, federal coronavirus relief act signed by the President, which includes a stimulus check and massive extension of unemployment benefits, which includes self-employed individuals.
  • Virginia Utilities Commission has put into place a bar on any utility cut-off right through the middle of May 2020.
  • Mortgage payments, if you are unable to make your mortgage payments, contact your mortgage company and you could get up to 180 days from relief on mortgage payments. Additionally, there is a bar on foreclosures for the next 60 days.
  • Make sure you know the charities you are contributing to.
