Barry W. Spear

Barry received his B.A. degree from Bowdoin College and graduated cum laude from Washington & Lee University School of Law. At Washington and Lee, he served during his third year as a Burks Scholar teaching assistant. Prior to entering private practice, he served as law clerk to the Honorable David H. Adams, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia
He has been a partner at Weinberg & Stein in Norfolk and specialized in bankruptcy and insolvency matters and litigation involving financial disputes. Barry has also served on the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division.
Barry was President of the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association for the 2008-2009 term. He has also served as Treasurer and Seminar Chairman as well as a member of the Board of Directors of that organization. Mr. Spear has spoken at numerous seminars on bankruptcy and collection issues.
He is admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
