James M. Flaherty

James “Jim” Flaherty grew up in San Diego and the Tidewater area. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a B.A. in Business and Economics. Following graduation he accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy where he served for five years. While homeported in Norfolk, Jim served in a variety of Division Officer assignments aboard USS Stout, (DDG 55). Later he transferred to the USS Peterson (DD 969) as the Training Department Head. Jim acted as command legal officer in both ships, providing basic legal counsel to both the Captains and crew.
Jim graduated from T.C. Williams in May of 2004 earning magna cum laude honors. While in school he clerked in the legal department for Monumental Life Insurance Company .
Jim joined the Boleman Law Firm in August of 2004. He currently heads the litigation department of the Firm’s Richmond office. He has been a panel speaker on bankruptcy law at the 2005 Governor’s Housing Conference as well as the 2005 Annual Statewide Legal Aid Conference. He is admitted to the State Bar of Virginia, and is authorized to practice before all Virginia State Courts, the Bankruptcy Courts in the Eastern District of Virginia as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association and the Richmond Bankruptcy Bar. Jim resides in Glen Allen with his wife, Jacqueline.
