G. Russell Boleman A graduate of Wake Forest University and the University of Richmond School of Law he has served as adjunct professor at the University of Richmond and Chairman of the Richmond Bankruptcy Bar. He is the author of numerous articles and has been a frequent speaker at legal educational seminars.
Laura T. Alridge
Laura, a shareholder in the firm, grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. She graduated from Meredith College in 1988 with a BA degree in History. After graduation she worked with the Dalkon Shield Claimants’ Trust for six years. At the Trust, she worked in all areas eventually representing the Trust in Alternative Dispute Resolution administrative hearings, both nationally and internationally.
Laura graduated from South Texas College of Law in Houston Texas in 1998 and joined the Boleman Law Firm that same year. She became a partner in 2004. Laura has served on the Bankruptcy Bar Liaison Committee and the board of Legal Aid Society of Virginia. Currently, she serves on the board of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.
She is a member of Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association, serving on the Legislative Committee, the Richmond Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Richmond Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar.
![]() Julia B. Adair
Julia Adair is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Richmond School of Law.
Her memberships have included the Virginia State Bar, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, American Bar Association, the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association, and the Richmond Bar Association. She has served as a speaker to community organizations and has provided CARE educational seminars to high school students. Julia was a founding board member of the Byrd Theatre Foundation.

A native of New York, John received his B.S. from State University College at Oneonta. He graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond 2000. After graduating, John served as a board member of the Young Graduate's Counsel for the University of Richmond School of Law. He is a shareholder in the firm.
A frequent speaker at local, regional and national organizations, John has addressed the Virginia Propane & Gas Association; Virginia Governors Conference on Housing; National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees; Virginia Trial Lawyer's Association; Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association as well as a number of civic and business organizations.
John has served as a member of the Virginia State Bar, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, American Bankruptcy Institute, American Bar Association, Richmond Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association where he is currently serving on the Board.
He is licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia; U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Virginia; U.S. District Court, Western District of Virginia and the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Betty Cabell Brogan grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from The College of William & Mary in May 2005. She graduated in May 2008 from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, where she served on the editorial staff of the Journal of Law & Public Interest.
James M. Flaherty
James “Jim” Flaherty grew up in San Diego and the Tidewater area. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a B.A. in Business and Economics. Following graduation he accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy where he served for five years. While homeported in Norfolk, Jim served in a variety of Division Officer assignments aboard USS Stout, (DDG 55). Later he transferred to the USS Peterson (DD 969) as the Training Department Head. Jim acted as command legal officer in both ships, providing basic legal counsel to both the Captains and crew.
Jim graduated from T.C. Williams in May of 2004 earning magna cum laude honors. While in school he clerked in the legal department for Monumental Life Insurance Company .
Jim joined the Boleman Law Firm in August of 2004. He currently heads the litigation department of the Firm’s Richmond office. He has been a panel speaker on bankruptcy law at the 2005 Governor’s Housing Conference as well as the 2005 Annual Statewide Legal Aid Conference. He is admitted to the State Bar of Virginia, and is authorized to practice before all Virginia State Courts, the Bankruptcy Courts in the Eastern District of Virginia as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association and the Richmond Bankruptcy Bar. Jim resides in Glen Allen with his wife, Jacqueline.
![]() Matthew R. Hahne
Matt, a native of Norfolk, Virginia received his Bachelor of Science from James Madison University. He graduated from Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law in 2004. During Law School, Matt was a member of the Speakers Trust Committee, Association of Trial Lawyers of America Moot Court Trial Team and a law clerk for The Honorable Kevin A. Hess of Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas.
Prior to joining Boleman Law Firm, Matt was an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Norfolk. Matt is licensed to practice in all of the Virginia State Courts and the Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar Association, Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association, Norfolk/Portsmouth Bar Association, and Virginia Beach Bar Association.
Matt currently resides in the Ocean View area of Norfolk with his wife and two children.

Patrick is from Richmond, Virginia and attended Benedictine High School. He received a B.A. from James Madison University. After graduation, Patrick worked for Capital One in the Compliance Department assisting production areas to meet legal requirements.
He graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law and joined Boleman Law firm in 2002. He became a shareholder in 2007. He is the manageing attorney in the Richmond office.
Patrick is an active volunteer in the Richmond community. He is a board member for Legal Information Network for Cancer (LINC). He is also involved in the Association for the Support of Children with Cancer (ASK), Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME), Flaggler House and Hilliard House.
Patrick is a member of the Richmond Bar Bankruptcy Section.
Patrick is married with two children and lives in Midlothian, Virginia.
Mark C. Leffler
Mark C. Leffler, a Virginia native, is a shareholder and the Chief Counsel of the Boleman Law Firm. He is the managing attorney in the firm’s Virginia Beach office. Mark has been selected as a member of “Virginia’s Legal Elite” for 2007 and 2008 in the bankruptcy practice category by Virginia Business magazine. He earned his B.S. degree from Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, VA, and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mark is a member of the Virginia State Bar and currently serves on the governing council of the Virginia Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section. He has authored a number of professional articles on bankruptcy law and currently serves as the case summaries editor for the Virginia State Bar’s Bankruptcy Law News. Mark is also a frequent speaker for professional associations, having spoken at national events held by the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees’ Conference (NACTT). Recently he was a featured speaker on Chapter 13 bankruptcy at the annual Virginia Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Conference. He served as a panelist and author from 2005 through 2007 at the Virginia CLE’s Annual Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy seminars. Mark is an alumni of the NACTT’s Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Practice Institute and he recently became one of the first debtor’s attorneys to join the NACTT Academy for Consumer Bankruptcy Education. Locally, he has served on the Local Rules Committee of the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and on the Richmond Bankruptcy Court’s Liaison Committee.
![]() Jon P. Perdue
Jon is a graduate of the College of William and Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law. While there he won the CALI Book Award for excellence in Consumer Bankruptcy and the American Bankruptcy Law Journal Award for achieving the highest grade in Consumer Bankruptcy. He also served as President of the Black Law Students Association and Regional Vice-Chair for the National Black Law Students Association. Jon received his B.A. in Political Science and a Masters in Applied Social Sciences from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University .
Jon is a member of the Virginia State Bar, and has been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, for the Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S.Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Virginia Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Boleman, Jon worked in the insurance and financial services industry in Atlanta, Georgia. Jon has also worked in the Campaign Finance Industry in Concord, New Hampshire, where he was successful in helping his client get elected to the United States House of Representatives.
![]() Sharon C. Stuart
Sharon Stuart, a shareholder in the firm, grew up in Newport News, VA. She holds a B.S. in Political Science and English from James Madison University and a J.D. from the University of Richmond Law School. During law school she advised the AFL-CIO during the 1998 legislative session as part of the University of Richmond Law School's externship. Prior to joining Boleman Law Firm in 2001, she practiced immigration law.
She has been admitted to the Virginia Supreme Court, U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Virginia. Her professional associations and membership include: Richmond Bar Association, Bankruptcy section of the Virginia State Bar, Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association (where she currently serves as Secretary and member of the Judicial Endorsement Committee, and has served as the Legislative Chair for the past two bar years), and IWIRC. She authored "Off the Beaten Path: Representing Consumer Debtors Two Years after BAPCPA" in the Winter 2008 edition of Docket Call the newsletter of the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar. She was a panel speaker at the 2005 Statewide Legal Aid Conference. She volunteers her time to Housing Opportunities Made Equal during their Annual Friends of Home Breakfast event since 2006. In addition, she has participated with the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program. ![]() Kathryn E. Smits
Kathryn grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. She received a B.A. in history from the College of Charleston in 2003. She graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2008. During her studies at Richmond, she was research assistant for Professor Hamiliton Bryson.

Stuart is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Middle Tennessee State University, and holds an MBA degree in finance from the Pamplin School of Business at Virginia Tech. A 2004 graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law, he clerked for the Hon. Ross W. Krumm, Chief Bankruptcy Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia. Stuart has been admitted to practice in Virginia, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
His professional memberships have included the Virginia State Bar, American Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association, and Harrisonburg-Rockingham Bar Association.
![]() Suzanne E. Wade
Suzanne is a graduate of the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University and the George Mason School of Law. She has practiced bankruptcy and real estate law in Virginia for 18 years. Prior to joining the Boleman Law Firm she was a partner in the law firm of Thompson, Smithers, Newman, Wade and Childress as well as a managing member of Wade and Wade, PLC.
Suzanne has been admitted to the Virginia State Bar, U.S. District Court Eastern District of Virginia, and U.S. Bankruptcy Court Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
Her professional memberships and activities include the Richmond Bar Association, Tidewater Bar Association, Virginia State Bar, Virginia Bar Association, the National Association of Foreclosure Professionals and the American Legal and Financial Network. She has served on the Executive Committee (including Chair) of the Bankruptcy Section of the Richmond Bar Association and is currently Chair of the Credit Abuse Resistance Education Committee for the Richmond Area. She has prepared CLE written materials, been a CLE speaker and has participated as a speaker and moderator for programs presented by the Virginia Housing Development Authority. She has been a volunteer for the Richmond Legal Aid pro bono hotline and currently serves on the Interfaith Services of Henrico County Board as well as the Endowment Board for her church.
