Five Things You Can Do To Improve Your Credit
Five Things You Can Do To Improve Your Credit
1. Obtain a copy of your credit report from each of the three credit reporting bureaus. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com to obtain a free copy today.
2. Clean up your credit report. If you find there are errors on the report, you have the right to have it removed. The credit report will have information about disputing inaccurate information. DO NOT PAY any company to clean up your credit report for you! Usually, you pay these companies a large sum of money and while the information will disappear from the credit report, this is only temporary and the removed information WILL reappear on your credit report within a couple of months.
3. Get current on delinquent accounts. Did you know that 35% of your credit score is based upon your payment history? Getting current on your delinquent accounts will have a great impact on your credit score. You can see your credit score rise within three or four months.
4. Pay off your obligations. 30% of your credit score is based upon outstanding debt. The rule of thumb is to keep your card balances at 25% or less of the credit available on the card.
5. Be patient. Problems with your credit didn’t happen overnight, so don’t expect it to be fixed in that amount of time.
